Complex Trauma, or C-PTSD, results from prolonged, repeated exposure to painful and terrifying experiences.

C-PTSD is often associated with chronic trauma in childhood, such as physical, sexual or emotional abuse, or neglect It can also include chronic poverty and unsafe communities. C-PTSD can also develop in adults who are exposed to repeated traumatic events, such as fighting in a war, policing, or interpersonal violence.

Trauma overwhelms our sense of control, connection and meaning.

Perhaps you lived in a home where your need for nurturing and love were not acknowledged or met. Now you struggle with anxious thoughts and panic attacks.

Perhaps you witnessed a lot of violence, crime, drug activity or poverty in your community, or in your childhood home. Trusting people and feeling safe is difficult.  

Perhaps you served in the military, became a police officer, EMS responder or spent time working in an emergency department of a hospital. Anger, cynicism and numbness to the suffering of others is hurting your career and relationships.
