Treating PTSD, complex trauma, professional abuse/exploitation, and anxiety and depression in Michigan

In-person and virtual psychotherapy

It’s because of what happened to you…

…maybe it was a single unexpected traumatic event, such as physical or sexual assault. Maybe an accident or a serious injury. Could be a history of abuse, neglect or terror or the abuse or exploitation by a trusted psychotherapist or medical professional…

  • You feel controlled by the pain and trauma of the past.

  • You cannot seem to manage stress, or cope with difficulties.

  • You feel isolated, disconnected and alone with your painful memories. Your relationships are suffering under the weight of self-dislike, self-destruction an/or avoidance of feelings.

  • You experience nightmares, intrusive memories, startle easily, and are always looking for threats.

  • You are in violation of your own integrity by behaviors you don’t understand. You seem to be controlled by addictions or self harm.

  • You feel helpless, passive and awaiting rescue.

I’m here to help you find your freedom.

I became a therapist because I believe my purpose in life is to be of service. I can relate to the challenges that trauma brings, and the power of finding your voice and your freedom. During my career, I have seen people change their lives for the better time and time again. I am always grateful to be a witness to that process, and awed at the resilience, strength, wisdom and fortitude that all of us possess. I believe that help and healing comes through a good relationship with a caring therapist. I strive to connect with people through empathy and validation, and facilitate lasting positive change by discovering and utilizing personal strengths. I also love a good problem solving challenge!

Our first few sessions are for you to tell me who you are, what you have experienced and what YOU need to reconnect with safety, joy, purpose, meaning and love again. There is no agenda. After a what you have survived, this time and space is for you.

Then we will collaborate on what is most important to you, and what your goals are. My style is person-centered, and relaxed, which means I will empower you to take an active role in your own healing. But don’t worry, I will be with you every step of the way!

It is my honor and privilege to witness how people turn their pain into post-traumatic growth.

I came to clinical social work to empower people to create their own positive change and I strive to make every individual feel seen, heard and accepted. This space is for you.

  • When I worked for community mental health, I helped people find relief from the anguish of untreated trauma.

  • As a volunteer therapist for Give an Hour, I help veterans and other military connected people, as well as people affected by disasters.

  • I don’t just talk the talk…I truly believe that every single person on this planet has inherent dignity and is worthy of respect.

Our time will always be centered on your needs. Together we will work to understand how your life’s experiences lead to this time and space, and and untangle the knot so that you can have clarity. We will identify and understand the unhelpful ways that have been getting in the way, and learn new ways to cope, find new meaning and new ways to thrive. I am here to co-navigate your journey.

Social Justice is an important value. In my practice, there is no discrimination due to age, gender, sexual orientation, relational/marital/family status, race, color, religious beliefs, ethnicity, physical disability, health status, or veteran status.

I will always strive to advance and support the value of human dignity!
